SUMMARY
Salem is the home of Hollows Grove University. The Coven consists of witches that belong to different houses, each one communicates with a different element. - Reds (Sex/Desire). Greens (Earth Witch). Blues (Water Witch). Yellows (Fire Witch). Whites (Crystal Witch), Blacks (Necromancy). Purples (Cosmic Witch). Grays (Air Witch).
Fifty years ago there was a massacre that ended up with the school closing.
Now, the Coven and two Covenants - Susannah and George - They are skeletons who still walk and talk and lead the Coven.
They want to reopen the school and they need two witches from each house.
They give Headmaster Alaric Grayson (Gray for short) Thorne a file and tell him that they found the second member of the Green house - Willow Madizza. Susannah has a special internet in her because she is a descendant.
Gray sets off to collect Willow, thinking she will not be aware of her magic, or able to control it.
Gray shows up shortly after Willow has just attended her mom’s funeral. Her mom dying is what broke the ward shielding Willow from the Coven. Willow also has a younger brother, Ash, but the spell shielding him now lies with Willow. Willow has a plan of sending Ash to live with his Muggle father, but before she is able to do that, Thorne shows up at her doorstep.
Gray is what we know as a vampire but in this book, he is called a Vessel. A long, long, time ago a young lady named Charlotte Hecate was accused of being a witch by the people of Salem. She made a deal with the devil, to give her magic, so she can get her revenge on the people of Salem. The devil says he will give her magic but he wants something as well. He wants his demons to come live on earth, and they will feed off the witches blood, to keep their vessels young and healthy. Some shit went down later on with the Coven and they killed Charlotte and kept her bones in a bag somewhere.
Willow is aware of what Gray is and she uses her earth magic (and some well placed knees) to shut the door in his face and then she and Ash start running. They get away but Gray, and his 2 buddies, catch up. Gray tells Willow if she comes willingly, he will pretend he didn’t see Ash.
Ash is able to get away with his Muggle dad and Willow heads off to Salem with Gray.
Gray takes a particular interest in Willow and is oddly attracted to her. So does another dude, he happens to belong to the other Green family - the Brays. His name is Iban. Willow can tell Iban wants them to be more than friends, but Willow mainly uses Iban to make Gray jealous, which works beautifully.
Willow is holding a secret - Yes she is a Green on her mom’s side, but she is also the last living Black. Her ancestor was Charlotte Hecate. Willow has been trained by her father to go and find the bones. Once she finds the bones, she will be able to take over the Coven and send all the Vessels back to hell.
To sum up the major points -
two students end up dying - one has her heart removed and the other (we find out later), the liver.
Gray and Willow exchange blood a few times. They end up fucking - Gray takes her virginity and apparently when a Vessel does that, they become obsessed with the witch.
Willow has nightmares where she sees her ancestors. In one nightmare, her ancestor sees something that Willow can’t, and then Willow gets scratched by whatever is stalking her (which we find out was actually Gray in the past, but she like dreamed walked into the past? Or something. Anyways, Gray marked her)
Gray makes a deal with Willow. He will help her restore the old ways of magic if she helps him keep the village safe. He will also keep her safe from other witches, especially from Susannah.
Susannah tells Willow that her plan is to let all the current generation of witches die out, so they are able to get rid of the Vessels, and then start training a new generation of witches. Willow is shocked to hear the plan and says she won't help. Susannah tells her her plan is to breed Willow with another family and she doesn’t need Willow to be conscious for this. Gray shows up and gets Willow away from her.
After the second student dies, Susannah tells her that Willow is not safe there, especially when it comes to Gray. She tells her she will let her leave, she just needs to get away from there and from Gray. Willow uses her Earth magic and buries Susannah in the ground. She takes off in the woods and gets attacked by werewolves. She defeats all but one, and Gray shows up and takes care of the last one and takes her back to the castle.
Gray tells her he didn’t mean for this to end like this. He is the one who was killing students. He then proceeds to kill other students in front of Willow to get more body parts. He uses these body parts to resurrect Charlotte. Oh, and he also kills Susannah and George.
Charlotte helps Willow open up the gates of hell which releases Luci and a bunch of higher level of demons. Charlotte ends up fading back away, telling Willow she needs to fix everything.
Oh, and Gray? He’s actually Lucifer. And remember when he marked her in the dream time travel walk? Yeah…they’re married now.
